I went to the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington yesterday for the first time. What an axcellent museum that is! Cold and wet day, though.

We had a very similarly painted Nimrod at the Avalon air show a few years back, Number 27; I see yours ends in a 0.
Another favourite of mine, the Victor, looking fit to do its job.

Great museum. Haven't been back since they got the Mirage IV, so maybe this year.

Not wanting to hijack CLF's thread in case he had some more, Mike, I've waited before putting up some I took on a much sunnier visit to YAM in 2010. It was during a short mid-week break in York and the previous day had been spent in an equally enjoyable visit to the National Railway Museum. A 25-minute bus ride from York brought us to the museum where we were well looked after. I was a volunteer at Tangmere at the time and spent much of the visit muttering things like. "if only WE had this much space to play with!"

Great shots, Pete. I see that they did different markings each side of the Halifax, 346 and 158 Squadrons.
Lovely detail on the spinning device for the bouncing bomb too

Yes it is and I think they've added more in the 14 years since those photos were taken. The Halifax is a real mishmash with the main part of the fuselage from a Halifax II and the wings from a Hastings but it's been really well done and serves as a fitting memorial to the Halifax squadrons. Unless you can get to Trenton, I guess it's the closest most of us will get to seeing the 'real' thing.

There's this one of course.... YAM is a great museum, I visited in 2013 but I'm sure it's only improved since! I keep track of WS788's ongoing restoration on UKAR, it's worth a look if you haven't done so already. They have really spruced up that Meteor since the photo above was taken.
