A health update from Peter Watkins
Posted: 01 Sep 2024, 14:58
As many of us know,Peter is a prolific painter of flightsim models, especially Fs9 stuff.
In May Pete was unfortunately diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer in the gullet.
As he said at the time: "I have a diagnosis of terminal Oesophageal cancer in the gullet. I developed swallowing difficulties end of November 2023 and have since had endoscopy, CT, PET scans and a colonoscopy to remove polyps. My condition is not operable as my lungs are not strong enough to withstand an operation which involves collapsing one lung. I have had an operation to insert a oesophageal mesh stent which will enable me to eat slightly more than just soft mushy food. I am also on a chemotherapy program which may give me one year plus. Without these I was given about 6 months, so here's hoping! I am being well supported by my wife and offspring and also friends and neighbours locally. I am determined to fight this and carry on my gardening and D.I.Y activities and local walking as much as possible. Will keep updating with my progress."
He messaged me the other day with this:
"Just to update you on my chemotherapy, the Doctor has confirmed that the cancer has not spread to my brain or anywhere else and is very happy with my progress. Can you let the other flightsim members know as I cannot get in for some reason. Cheers "
So,whilst Pete is no way out of the woods yet, there is just a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks for reading and if you do use Facebook the certainly do find Peter and wish him all the best,I know he'll be pleased to hear from all the flightsimmers who've used his repaints over the years.
Miggers.
