Hi Larry,
An interesting fact, to my mind, is that the singer never mentions "what's up" even once in the song.
Very true, the closest she gets is "What's going on!"
In a similar vein there is no mention of a black dog anywhere in Led Zeppelin's famous tune "Black Dog". The dog in fact was one from a local farm that used to visit the remote Welsh farmhouse the band rented to record their album. It crossed the driveway every day and one of the band members spotted it and decided to name the tune they were currently recording after it!
In Nazareth's famous song "Hair of the Dog" there is no mention of hair from a dog anywhere!
It does use the term "Son of a b!tch" multiple times though!

Do you have any of your performances on the web? Our youngest Grandson is a drummer, and has been accepted for an interview regarding an advanced music mentoring outfit in Melbourne.
Although I played in four bands (three in the UK, one in Canada) there is no footage (audio or video) thankfully!
All I have are a few photos from my first ever public performance, a College Staff and Student end of year Cabaret that was used to show off the Drama students' and Music students' capabilities. I ran the music recording studio at the time (16 tracks on reel-to-reel tape) and one of the students had written and recorded several songs while taking his Advanced Level music course. He was going to perform some of these songs with a bunch of the female students as vocalists when he realized he had a problem! During the recording sessions he had played the piano, keyboards and bass guitar on the tracks but could only play piano or piano and keys during the performance. Fellow students were covering drums, guitars and a horn section but they had no bass player. He looked at me, picked up his bass and threw it at me and said "You've got 3 weeks to learn 4 songs, GO!" Talk about panic! I'd never played any instrument before and now I had to do a crash course and perform live in front of an audience (the last time I had performed anything was as a frog in a school assembly when I was eight years old!)
I spent the next three weeks doing nothing but learning how to play bass and these four songs. It was all day at work and every evening at home! Thankfully I did get proficient enough to perform but there was an added distraction. With one week to go to the performance we held a week-end long dress rehearsal and suddenly realized we had no compare(s) to MC the show and introduce the various drama and musical performances! I got tasked with that too along with the Head of the Music and Performing Arts Department (my direct boss) and I offered to do a stand-up comedy routine as the penultimate act of the night! Thankfully it all came together for the two nights of the Cabaret and I actually got a standing ovation for my comedy routine on the last night!
Here is a grainy shot of me performing in that show and for some reason people seem to think I am channeling a certain Mr. E. Clapton but I can assure you it wasn't intentional!
