Classic British Flight Sim

Spotted this in a local street, reminded me of the WWII American pilot reading IOM off his map

OK.... possibilities:
a) Nobody remembers the pilot who asked for directions when he was over the Isle of Man, saying he was at 10M on the map.
b) You remember it, but just don't care.
c) You just don't care.

What's the point of this Forum if you don't use it?
It's costing Ben to keep it going, if that makes any difference to you.

I dont know the story however is it a bit like the person asking directions to the 'Yumka'?

Well there you go; I hadn't heard of Yumka till you wrote.

Errrmmm Mike, you might have better luck Googling 'YMCA' rather than 'Yumka'!

I'd never heard the 10M story before but I did wonder if the Isle of Man was the connection.

It came up in reference to the Isle of Wight being 10W.

It is similar to the island in the Irish Sea known for its 3 legs.......'Ten M'......I.O.M.
Its from an old joke about an american pilot on his first trip in Europe, when asked his position he referred to his map & said......'Ten W'....

This has now raised the question about Simon's post in that thread, referring to EDIT: [NOT "Dave", PETEP] using a "mug made with Aluminium". I recognised Ventnor, Blackgang, and various other places, and threw in Wooton Bridge myself, but never deciphered that one. Would you care to enlighten me, Simon?
