Remember MicroProse from the 80's when they first started out? Now they are back again with the Flying Fortress for MS2024. Still a lot of work to do including the sounds but looks promising.
Nigel.

I spent many, many happy hours playing on the Microprose B17 back in the day, it was such an immersive and satisfying simulator for the time. I loved little touches like being able to name your bomber and the individual crew names.

I had it also and really enjoyed flying it though have noticed in the video that they have not yet put in a generator as in the real one, It would be the flight engineer that would make his way down the back of the a/c and on command from the pilots would start the Put Put as it was known, probably due to the fact it sounded like it.
I have seen that it is on early release at Just Flight but won't be rushing out to buy it yet, there does seem quite a few problems such as mixture settings as well as cowl flaps not moving however, with updates I am sure that it will become very popular. Watching the landing in the video though I may be wrong but the viewpoint needs to be increased upwards as the runway was lost to sight hence the go-around. Minor quibbles but when it is updated to full working model then I might be tempted.

Today's Microprose is not the one of old. The trademark name has changed hands at least twice since the glory days of M1A1 Tank Platoon, Falcon 4 etc. I'm not yet convinced by this new B-17; high expectations at Sim Outhouse have declined in recent days, following the release of the preview videos.
I hope Flying Iron is still working on their B-17G, because they are the benchmark for WW2 aircraft. Unfortunately, they haven't answered enquiries as to the project's future. Maybe they are waiting to see how this Microprose model fares before deciding whether to continue.

Though the G is my favourite variant, MS 2024 is definitely an unknown at present.
