Classic British Flight Sim

Hi, not been on here for a long, long time as real life has been getting in the way but got back on the PC a few weeks ago to revisit playing FS but last week, upon booting up and starting the launch of Flight Sim FS2024, the load has started to fail just before completion and reboots the PC completely. This is worrying as I purchased a top end spec machine for Flight Sim as the main criteria. (this is also happening with FS2020 as well)

The specs are: 1000w PSU, RTX 4090, Intel i9 CPU and Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix XT sealed Water Cooling plus 64gb of RAM. Therefore you can appreciate my concerns so I would be most grateful if possibly your thoughts can help me here and advise me.

If the PC has been on a few minutes doing something else then it loads FS perfectly ok...just seems as if it needs to 'warm up' first which seems bizarre but thought I would mention it in case it is relevant.

I never 'tinker' with anything so the PC is exactly as it was built and hopefully there will be an easy fix.

I have a 3 year RTB with 1 year left so worst case scenario, if this is a hardware problem then it has to go back but naturally if it is something trivial I would prefer not to send it back as the PC would most likely be wiped and naturally that would be a real PITA.

Daft question, but are uou up to date with Windows updates?

Hi Ben, yes, all updates are done automatically

Hi Brian, its worth doing a manual Windows update too and if you go to Advanced settings and see if there are any driver updates. Also, Bios updates for your motherboard could be important.

I don’t think its a hardware issue on the main PC as that would often generate a blue screen error.

Do you have much plugged in by way of USB devices?

Hi Ben, thanks for getting back to me....well, turned on the PC and checked all the updates and the Nvidia drivers...all OK. Started FS2024....loaded perfect!

When I turn on the PC, normally, I usually go through a quick sequence of checking my emails, maybe the News Headlines then after that if I am 'flying' I start FSIM up and never had a problem.

So, on the day in question that I had a loading crash...I now remember starting the PC and as soon as the desktop appeared went straight into loading FS2024 and that is when it failed.

I think I now know why, the poor old PC clearly had not had time to get everything in the background up an running and presented me with a 'perceived' problem...Doh!

My wife Went onto ChatGPT and it was confirmed that it was always advisable to allow 30-60 seconds for all PC's to get the background process up and running before hitting it with high end programs like Flightsim...something I normally did by checking emails etc but on this one day...I was too hasty!

So, in retrospect, now I know, I am happy that I was chasing a problem that was not really there...so thanks Ben for helping me deal with something that turns out was my fault and that I was worrying for nothing.
