A month ago (+/-) I visited the museum of tranport in Caracas with my family … Sadly is in a very bad state and the exposition filled with old memorabilia was kind off closed (there were 3 guys sitting there doing nothing who wouldn't let me pass).

Well the aircrafts are in a very bad state but found a couple of british classics in the mix plus some other interesting planes.

So lets begin with YV-O-MC-9 an old SC7 skyvan used by "Correos de Venezuela" nowadays called Ipostel. First time next to one!, quite an interesting shoebox.
Image

Here we are, me and my Little commander, inspecting this old flying box. Engines are long gone, probably used for other skyvan.
Image

The elevator isn't that high (I'm 1.80) controls cable are still connected, moves with ease. To the left, the small box shaped thing is actually an old DC-8 flight simulator of Viasa.

While not british the next two plaenes are always good watch, also the first time I'm next to a twinbeech, I love this airplane in FsX.
Image

The Little commander needed some help for spinning the props, everything is Good to go!
Image

Wife serves today as out stewardess, she loved the look of the twinbeech, always a pleaser for the eye!
Image

Now onto the big guy in the hangar, a DC-3 .. YV-MC-1 !, Venezuela's first presidential airplane!

Here a picture of it in the late 40s

Now there's something very interesting below the left wing, a de Havilland Goblin jet engine!
Probably used in one of the air force's vampires, which was the AF's first jet figther.
I have to admit that I gave it a spin, needed to take the chance for spinning a jet engine for the first time.

Now let's make a Little episode of CBFS spotter here perhaps, can you guess what this one is?

And we can finish for now with a Little classic over here

Hey, that is a very nice and entertaining post, Leonel. There should be lots more like this.
Thanks for sharing, and for introducing your fine looking family.
My guess for your quiz is a DH Dragon Rapide, but as I've always said, my spotting skills are nothing compared to the Spotters who answer my quiz.

Sure, there might be another post coming if I can travel south to Puerto Ordaz at the end of the month for visiting relatives so you guys can see a bit of Venezuelan aviation, maybe I can catch a pic of the Jetstreams used to travel to Canaima and Los Roques, and IIRC there's a trislander somewhere in the airport.

Oh and btw nope not a DH, as a lead I can tell you that it was used by the air force :)

Hi, looking at the orifices in the nose cowling...my guess is a Fairchild PT26....can't see if it has been cannibalised any more than it is but if that is an open cockpit, then it's the PT 19 Btw...I like the Beech twin too, one of my favourites in Flightsim. ;)

My eyes are worse than I thought. I thought the wall was the slab side of the fuselage, and the prop was just the port engine. Must use the PC, not the mobile.

You got it right, and is an open cockpit so it's a 19 :welldone:

After I posted the image I noted that the angle might make it look as another thing entirely, so it wasn't just you ;)
