Watched it on the news this lunchtime. Looked like the pilot had to force the darned thing down and as a consequence, it wasn't the prettiest landing I've seen (RH outer bogie the last to touch).
Impressive nontheless
I was thinking more of the reverse loading applied to the wing and pylon and the tendency for it to cause them wing to bend back... i.e. the wing structure will be much stronger inboard.
well it flew over us in Putney @ 13:15 as we'd stopped for lunch we sat outside and watched it, in the 30 seconds or so it took to come over the roof of the flats opposite to disappearing over East Putney station we were pretty impressed by what we saw.
For its size I think the fact that it is so quiet is a testament to modern engine technology certainly the preceding 747 was possibly twice as noisy
I watched it, together with a very large crowd ( most of us retired!) , from a hill slightly above and about 1 mile from r/w 23 at Hawarden. It did a pass with gear up at some speed, and then a further left hand circuit with gear down with a low approach and go around. Very impressive, , very quiet even on the climb out, and much nicer looking in the metal than on photographs, although it will never be a great beauty.
