Wow, I remember this. It must have been about 12 years ago.
I was out in Arizona at the time and saw it on local TV.

I think its older than that, perhaps 1989 or 1990. IIRC (if its that one I think it is) they previously tried some yawing, diving and pulling up sharply and finally a deliberate "bumpy" touchdown in an effort to dislodge the gear but to no avail, eventually bringing it in and using the ailerons to keep the unsupported wing airborne for as long as poss before it came down on the nacelle. All in all a well executed landing given the circumstances.

Maybe even earlier

I remember this as being ealry in the career or the 300 and thinking it strange happenoing to such a new type.

I have a feeling it wasnt long after Sioux City.. which would place it in the era I suggested... could be a different incident though?
