Buying a new computer
As you probably know from previous threads I am looking to buy a new computer and one that can be easily upgraded, with computers becoming more powerful it can be quite confusing as to purchasing the right one.
Basically what I would like to know which processor would be the best to aim for i.e. AMD Athlon or Pentium. The processing speed I am looking at will be about 3GHz Pentium speed dual core....How does that translate with the Athlon and what is the difference between the two.
This should hopefully be my last question!!!!!

I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

Gary, you say the ones that have been suplying here are 64 bit.....stupid question......but where?
Chris, if you come by this thread I am looking for one that will not only play FS9 well but also be using for photos, DTP and general use also easily upgradable. Looking at about £800 - £900 at a push.

For that price Nigel you can have a stonker of a machine built. These are the guys who built mine, I went to school with the owner. Granted I got some discount, but for the money your willing to spend you can have a great one done.

I have always had AMD, and never had Pentium. As well, I have always had Radeon Video cards, and so never tried Nividia. Not too sure which type is the best, if at all one is better than the other.
