If things get a bit retricted I often switch to that view
Yep, me the same. I mostly switch to that view only when I come into land. I find it a bit difficult sometimes if I can't see the threshold with some panels.

Overall Id say it all boils down to personal preferance.

I wonder if its because he has his FPS locked at 15? Perhaps if he unlocks it, it might rise much higher.

Well Eddie, it is the lock that is keeping the frames at or below 15 and Degsy would certainly see more without the lock in place.

Degsy.. are you running FS9.1 (the patched version)?? If so, try setting the frames in your FS hardware section to unlimited and see how you get on

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your concern over my flying enjoyment

This was an early shot (~ 4 years ago) I used when uploading the amended panel to the sim sites for others to use. It's taken in FS2002 running on an Athlon XP2500 and (deep breath) a 3DFX Voodoo 2 card

The setup I've just moved from was fixed at 30fps in FS2002 and with my new setup on FS9 with a new Mobo and graphics card I see 30fps + no problem. As I'm still experimenting with settings in FS9 I'm leaving the FPS at "unlimited" at present but on the basis that more than 30fps gives little benefit and the power could be better used to give better detail and scenery loading, I may reset the limit to 30 to avoid big FPS drops and stutters.

But even good FPS don't tempt me to those VC thingies............. :huf:
Regards,

Degsy

Rgr that Degsy

It's all a compromise really. The 9.1 patch was supposed to eliminate the frame lock requirement as even modest cards these days seem to be waiting for the system to catch up. In the end.. it's whatever your setup and you are happy with :bandit:

We have had FS9 on two different systems and neither would run
with the patch!!

We have a new V-card, they recommend the FPS be set
same as refresh rate!!

I have mine set at 75, and it runs at that most of the time!!

I bet this had been said already, but seeing as I fly mostly GA, a VC is the only possible way GA can be experienced.
