Hello All.

I have been meaning to ask this for a long time. And i mean a long time.

for a while now i have become interested in creating my own scenery's. However, i have never really known what they are made, using. Im guessing GMAX could do it.

Im looking for thr programms that developers such as FlyTampa, UK2000, and Mega Airport Frankfurt team use. Obviously im not expecting to be churning out scenerys of that quality within the month, but i wouldnt mind having the abiity to get that good.

What i am not looking for are programs like Runway12, or any object placers. I want a full, from cratch, design program.

I hope you guys know where to look!

Peace and Love,

Fred 'mulletman' Clark

Princess Sophie, free programs are obviously preferred, but i want to get into it enough that i will part with cash. 2 Airports are leaping around in my mind constantly, and if i dont at least look into options, im going to flip!

You need either Gmax or FSDS to create the 3D objects. Then probably AFCAD to create the navaids, tower freqs, and other ATC bits and bobs.
Have a look at http://www.scenery.org/ and http://www.scenerydesign.org/forum/

Further to Dave's link's,

I found a LOT of help here http://ukscenerydesign.co.uk/forum/index.php the guy's there a second to none, they are Very helpfull as well as friendly.

Top Guy's, They use GMAX to create their scenery.

I use FSDSv3, I find it very user friendly, thats what I'm using to create all my VFR scenery at the moment.

Cheers,

Hi mate,

FSDSv2 wasnt as usefull as Gmax for scenery creation, but now FSDSv3 has the ability to compile .MDL scenery projects too, but that said, it's not as powerfull as Gmax - Hence the user friendlyness of FSDS.

Well, i will have another look into GMAX. Had a look at the scenery part of the Abacus website  could have awnsered that one myself!

I am aware that a couple of the base packages for GMAX are on the FS disk4, but as far as i know, some were taken off the web. is there anywhere i can get them from, or will the online tutorials/stuff on the diskc be sufficient?

I'm not sure what is on the disc with Gmax, but you should download and read the Gmax SDK from M$

I think it's disk 1

Simviation and Avsim have tutorials if what you want is not there.

Fred,

Everything is on the FS2004 disk. Only problem now is that if you reinstall Gmax, you cannot get a registration code any more. There is a fix for this - I'll look it up if you need it.

And maybe scenery is the place for me to start having a look at Gmax again - not so many moving parts!

And this link looks useful:

You can STILL get a registration code for gmax, and if that doesn't work, there is an official "workaround" .... all at http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax ....
