Vegas or Jetty really..............
I know you two go to.....er,I mean WORK :k: :k: at Manchester airport so see what you can find out about this.
A work colleague(Basher Bennett,so named because he used to work on steam loco's at Crewe Works and has a love of big hammers,Stillson wrenches and heavy duty pry bars)has asked me what it is that growls its way up out of Manc and over Congleton at around 5am   most mornings.
It's no good me looking and listening for it as I'll be snoring like a pig at that ungodly hour of a weekday morning.
Bash isn't very knowledgable on aeroplanes,I mean,he knows what a Spit or Lanc or Hurri or Jumbo or Concorde is(and he's pretty sure it's not any of those!!!)but not much else.
Orright?....Not 'arf.

Blimey, thats got me baffled as well. Not entirely sure as it literally could be anything!
If he's not well up on aviation then I don't suppose its worth asking him to elaborate on the sounds? (ie jet or prop)
Perhaps Jetty might know as he does work there. I cover all over the place

Do you have Electra's at that time?
(Lockheed not Carmen's)

You been peering in my locker at work Garry?!
AFAIK the Electra's no longer come into Manchester. Theres nothing suggested on Ringway reports either. Again, perhaps Jetty knows more about it.
I know as a rule the Electra's operate (or used to) out of Liverpool JL.

Very possible. I know traffic from EGCC & EGPP pass close to each other frequently, albeit at different heights. Your right though and I think the Electra could be heard from Congleton if thats its routing away from JL.Garry Russell wrote:Hi Eddie
The Elctra is quite rare now
Maybe the aircraft is not out of Manchester but from somewhere else an in the still of the early morning sounds lower and the route is near to one out of Manchester.
