Transferring large files

Sorry guys, I need to ask for a bit of help. I'm working in a small travel company, dealing with people in Spain. We've got a bit of a problem, where we need to transfer a 30-40 MB package of photos - obviously we could arrange to upload the photographs to Photobucket, but we're looking at about 70+ images. Can anybody suggest a way of transferring this package, without having to look at FTP transfer between websites?

Cheers,

Andy

Have you used Winrar to compress them as much as possible in an Archive format?

Garry,

I'm not doing it, it's being done at the Spanish end. I will certainly suggest that, be we still have the problem of how to transfer as a package of that size, or even half that size, is not really an emailable item.

I'm thinking maybe get them small enough to think of putting on CD or DVD's then posting.

Well, we're going to do that anyway, but we want a belt & braces approach - I suspect Trev is shortly to find out about the Spanish postal service.

Be sure that they are jpg-format unless you REALLY need it otherwise...., then zip-them and see what you get...

Btw. with winzip you have the opportunity to pack them in predefined chunks.....

Otherwise I would suggest ftp if it is more than once....

Or produce a zip or rar file and if still too big, split it up using a file splitter

When all the files arrive at the other end, they can self unite back into the big one.

A quick Google found these plus lots more (can't remember the one I've used before)

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/splitter.html

Edit:

this I have used

Andy,

What must be the easiest way to transfer a large file like this in one easy go is for both users to have MSN. It sounds terribly corny I know but it does work and the files get to where they need to be straight away. As long as the other user has enough savvy to throw the phots into a zip file (compressed folder) you're done and dusted

Have you tried http://www.yousendit.com - its a site that hosts large "email" attachments. Basically when you send it, it uplaods the file to their site and sends teh recipient a message with a download address.
