I don't remember Alphasim helping any of us with data or anything that i can remember.

I only send info to freeware developers.
If you want to charge for models you have to do your own homework.

Hi Dyl

I have been PM'd and it's not for an Alphasim project apparently so i'm wrong. (sorry Danno  )

It just seems to me that a good % of this forum is on the AS payroll which i find very disconcerting when questions like this pop up.

Sorry but some of my watermarked fde files have turned up in payware already so i am very defensive (not in Alphasim Payware)

Regards
Rick

Hi Rick,

We all make mistakes, but the way things are going with our beloved hobby, who can blame you for being that way!!

Nothing wrong with being on the defense

TobyVickers wrote:tekman... not sure quite of conversion factor because I work in metric, but beware that SHP is a measurement of Power and that Foot-Pounds is a measurement of torque (force applied around an axis), so the two things are not equivalent quantities. Only when a force (torque) is multiplied by a velocity (in this case rotational velocity) do you get a value for power
Toby - wasn't this precisely the effect of the formula I posted?

Yes, I wasnt criticising your formula, only pointing out to tekman that he was getting his quantities confused.

Mr Vickers... let's set the record straight - I'm always confused.

Mr Piper... I understand perfectly why you would defend your FDE
files as I have learnt they take a considerable amount of effort
and time to produce and you don't want people or companies
pilfering for profit, so i share your concern but probably not to quite the same degree as I have to get good at this first.

Victor - thank you for the formula - as previously stated it did
help in a round about way.

Dyl Roberts - spot on mate - .... it's a hobby and from my point
of view I'm doing this for nostalgic reasons and hopefully to give
others pleasure.

D0mokun - No...... send me a private email instead stating
exactly the information you require and I'll try and help you. I
have to connect via a slowbile phone and it takes ages for the
forum to show up on my PC. Helps to know the SHP in the first
place and remember there is a slight difference between SHP
and HP but what I’ve found is that a small margin of error here
doesn't overly affect the final performance - a slight adjustment
of gear reduction ratio can make all the difference, but obviously
other factors come into play.

As a final footnote to this, The reason I asked the question in the

first place was because there doesn't seem to be any definitive
documentation that explains flight dynamics and all the various
conversion factors for flightsim.
Luckily my father is quite well versed in most of it but I wouldn't
have asked the question if he had known.

THIS is the post then Andy ;)

Rick, I am a member on this forum under the guise of nobody but myself. I don't carry the AlphaSim title here nor do I intend to. I do that on the Alpha forums.

The reason I wanted the info was for the Fairey Gannet project, that I've taken over on behalf of AH. I would not request info for payware here, since Alpha has thier own FD guru anyway and I only build cockpits and AI!

I'm only defending myself though, I am not flaming nor am I looking to give you a hard time! I can understand the defensive shift (I've done it myself so I shant be hypocritical) but I do develop Freeware too..

I'm not completely dark side ;)

Dan.

Rick,

Seriously mate, I have absolutely no personal gripe with you or anything of the sort, and I do not mind your comments in the least. Though, your apology is no less greatfully received.

I may do freeware, but nobody does it like yourself ;) I'll buy you a pint sometime.
