Hi all, if this has been posted before ,please excuse my oversight.

http://local.live.com/

This is a Microsoft site that gives a very close look from space. From the quick look I took it seems to better Google Earth.

Hi Sando and welcome to the forum

I'm not quite sure how that link fits with airport scenery as the detail isn't really up to much. Nice gadget all the same

I'll move this to E&S

Dave, its brilliant. Perhaps you found a low res area, but if you zoom in, the detail is remarkable. It also has 45 degree "bird's eye" views over some areas. Unlike Google Earth, the UK coverage is complete and generally consistant.

Welcome Sando.

Toby

Toby, it does not cover most of Scotland, nor does it cover north Yorkshire...............at least the one I have don't.

I have never yet attempted any scenery in either of those areas, nor do I visit them much, so no skin off my nose there. Given your location though, I can see that would annoy you... hey ho, cant win 'em all :dunno:

it's a good map to use
Google has the detail to show runway numbers at a lot of the
airports, but there are big holes of coverage (or I should say
a lack of it)
msn and a few other tools are needed for me to NAV
It would be cool to have googles earth work with FS
like FS nav does
...or maybe someone knows of such a program?
.........have the AC track with the map

It's brilliant I reckon, the good top down views are on a par with Google if not better.

I've just spent the past hour looking around on the birds-eye setting and am amazed.

Here's a few cropped samples.

3 are aviation related and 2 not...

Have I been looking on the same site

Didn't see any photo's at all.. just a map (albeit a good one) I zoomed in on Benson and all I got was a very big field similar to something you'd see on an OS map

Try clicking "aerial" or "birds eye" from the little toolbar window
