What time formatting issue!?

 I don't know why, but I'm obviously blind to this thread.
I checked the date of last post the other day & still didn't register it.

The hours field isn't calculated, it is read in direct from the FlyNet flight logs where it gives duration in this format -> '01:23 (1.4h)'
This hours number is used for all the 'per hour' type calcs etc.

Departure & arrival times come from the route data and none of that is calculated either.
The '1 h' you mention will be an average time from all the flights that have actually been recorded by CBFS pilots on that route.
All the fields in the yellow section are relating to what's been flown already.

Other than a lack of space for more detailed descriptions, I don't really see any problem with the current format.

Yes it just struck me, today actually, that the Flight Time is indeed an average of all flights on that specific route.....

So no reason to change it actually.

It just sticks like a thorn in my eye :poke: with decimal hours instead of hh:mm

Can't seem to convince myself that 1.7 hours is a valid format...

I might just be old-fashioned, but I like the old 1h42min or 01:42 format.

01:42 format should be ok, just not 1h42mins.
Either decimal hours or HH:MM is ok. I thought you were not fond of HH:MM either.

Because of the way the program displays, it's quite tricky to insert extra 'units' half way through values, as with 1 h 42 mins.
Sounds silly from the outside, but that's the way it is.

There are places where it shows in either style, so I will have a look at making duration HH:MM the standard for route flight times.

Had a look at the maps by the way.
I think the topo style maps look great, but it seems to have an annoying fault.
If you do something like this, it's great...
http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gcmap?PATH=E ... o&MARKER=1

But fly a bit further up North & you run off the British Isles map...
http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gcmap?PATH=E ... o&MARKER=1

If there was any way around that, I'd be very interested.

What wrong with the latter? It's got everything!

Btw. I love HH:MM, talks right into my programmers heart.

I honestly don't know but I guess I could spend some time myself on the site, maybe some extra parameters in the URL could do....

Anyway that was just a suggestion as a gimmick, and an instantly view of the route....

From the FAQ:

Why is the world map sometimes used for routes in a single hemisphere?
Only a limited set of base maps are available. The smallest one for a given request is chosen, but if nothing else fits, that may be a map of the world. (Additional base maps will be built as time and resources permit.)

Apparently it is not from here the Gimmick should be based

i like the new format of statistics, please remember it's been sometime since i was last looking at this info (approx a year ) . great to download the exact flight schedules from a specific airport and aircraft. makes my flight planing somewhat easier and faster.
