Question on FS9.CFG

Post by Nigel H-J »

Under the graphics heading of the fs9.cfg file there is an entry:

LOD_TARGET_FPS=x

I have found this changes values after adjusting certain settings.....can anyone tell me what it does as mine now currently shows a value of 15 whereas in my backup copy (default fs9.cfg file) it shows a value of 24.
Many thanks

At a guess it stands for "level of detail target frames per second" and I assume thats how many FPS FS reckons your system will achieve with the other settings you have specified.

Here you go Nigel..................

LONG but interesting quote from http://www.mistymoorings.com/toolshed/index.php. It's about FS2002 but that doesn't matter:

FS2002 has a new feature that we have not seen before, it is the Maximum Frame Rate slider. If you ask someone how it operates, you will get as many opinions as there are fingerprints. However, here is the real deal:

The slider sets two values in your 2002.cfg file:

UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=xx (where xx is the value you set your slider to.)

This is located in the (Display) section of your 2002.cfg file and does exactly what it says. It locks your max frame rate to that value and then assigns additional resources to other tasks (such as smoothing guage motion, pre-loading scenery, etc.)

LOD_TARGET_FPS=xx (where xx is roughly 70% (rounded)of the value of the slider).

This is located in the (GRAPHICS) portion of the 2002.cfg file. This gives a “minimumâ€

I've seen several places that is certainly a FS2002 issue, and that in FS2004 you will gain best result using unlimited....
