Although VC 10 would have been out stationed in Manchester and perhaps Prestwick, but as far as I know Heathrow and Gatwick were the only true bases of civil VC 10.

BOAC/BA at Heathrow and BUA/BCAL at Gatwick.

I suppose for the purpose of VA routes out stationed would be counted as based until maintenance or repair was needed?

In other words the routes may be based but not the aircraft.

Thank you for the explanation Garry.

So that mean that an overhaul of the aircraft (in VA) can take place in any airport, or only at it's base (which it apparently haven't got anyway...)

I'm a bit confused here (in a VA-kinda-way, that is) :think:

That's the real world........I don't know how it would work in the VA.

The VA does seem to demand a lot of compromise :think:

I'm sure John will have something up his sleeve.

I was trying to make sure I got the AC back to what I perceived as the base (EGLL) before the maintinence level got too low. Now I know in flynet you can maintain an AC anywhere and the cost is the same, but real world fixing an AC outside of your main base/hub would be more expensive.

Since our fleet of VC10's are mostly supers that were originally operated by BOAC/BEA out of heathrow, I don't see a need for an additional base, but then its up to John and the group to decide that.

Right Joe, I wasn't trying to get new hubs, just wondering what the need for a service check would be. If it was necessary to return to EGLL every time.... :think:

One Base is good enough for me, just want to "go by the rules" whatever they may be. :dunno:

Joe's reply about sum's it up Dan :wink: Maint can be carried out in the VA at any airport. The only stipulation (request) is that once you've finished with an aircraft, you leave it at it's base for someone else to use :wink: Of course, if you have a problem and can't get it back.. by all means leave a post to see if someone is willing to fly it back for you :smile:
