Garry, I wasn't having a go at you mate. I can see where you're coming from - it's a bit like being an old skoda mechanic (old skoda that is, not the mechanic) - you wish you had something better to work with but you're stuck with what you've got - for the time being at least.

I've not exactly got a high end system but I confess I'm having no reliability or serious performance issues with the demo - frame rates are quite a bit lower than FS9 but not disastrously so.

The demo is very buggy and from what I've read elsewhere it may be that some of the bugs won't be fixed in time for the product release (one particular bug is the assignment of an inappropriate function to the centre wheel of the mouse when flying in mouse and keyboard mode - this may not be fixed in time because it might cause issues elsewere).

At least MS are getting a great deal of feedback from the new army of "beta testers".

Regards,
Chris

Chris

I didn't think you were

I was just trying to restate where I am and why I really could do with not having to wait until it actually comes out

What worries me is I have a good system and I am getting a poor result.

I will look up my exact pecs in a minuet.

one thing though I had 14.1gb free and the minimum is 14 so I have managed to increase that to 36gb and in a mo I will see if that is any better.

My system is

AMD Athlon 64

4000+

2.41GHZ 1.00GB of RAM

running xp SP2

The highest frame rates on addon I am getting is the Viscount at 13

The 1-11 is running about 6 and the 748 about 7

Just changing the views causes it to pause.....changing aircraft of position cause it to go to a black screen. Task manager still lists it as running not ' not responding' but it never comes back

Garry

But I am going to see how much if anthing the extra HD space makes to the freezing at least.

Good luck to you Garry. My pc spec is far from yours so I don't hold out much hope. Maybe I can use it as a screensaver instead!!

To this point, I'm much the same mind as Eddie (or was that Jonesey?? ) I really CBA to waste time downloading the demo, particularly if what we hear is true and that it is an out of date dog. I should be over the moon and terribly excited but I've neither seen nor heard much thus far to find the inertia required

Just a thought.. I wonder how it will run on Nigel-HJ's 600 P3

I've tried it out with the increase HD space.

The pauses have gone but the freezing on changing is still there

I tried the height and set the Vanguard for two million feet

I read that you can go into space and it seems like it. (re Thunderbird thread)

This is one of the early 'Vanguard' space shots

Frame rates on the Vanguard were 40-50 over the sea....7-8 over the land with about 13-15 on the coast.

One other thing for DM really.......... I have the Comet and Trident loaded but I don't see them in the aircraft menu
