Geez... hadn't heard the FO was the survior.

We were discussing over in the AirDisaster.com forums and from several who've flown out of there quite a bit, it appears they attempted to depart runway 26 which was not only in poor condition due to cracked concrete, but is only 3600' long. There is a real chance they took off on the wrong runway by accident and simply didn't have enough runway for departure.

Definitely a tragic accident. I hope the FO does survive though.

he was pulled from the wreakage by a local police officer and two airport personal (some type of emergency responders)
that went to the crash site once the code 3 was announced
appearently the crew chose the wrong runway
3400 ft general aviation
instead of the 7000 ft main runway
with all the check list I can;t imagime how this can happen

All the more shocking given the excellent safety record of aviation in the USA. A very sad day.

We all see the obvious...wreckage in a field and maybe it did take off or try to on the wrong runway, maybe not......but how it got into that situation we just don't know and speculation will only cloud fact when known..

Garry, I'm sorry, but Lief's post was more than uncalled for. Firstly, he made statements that are directly in error, and then he proceeded to do exactly what I've been told "don't do" several times - made derogatory statements about another forum. Funny thing is, from what he said, he hasn't ever been over to AD.com to see what the forums are like or who's in there which makes it even more underhanded for him to make those comments.
