G-ARVM at Cosford
The outer wings and engines have now been removed

From the looks of the squashed nozzle on one of the engines, looks like they were allowed to 'drop off' and presumably are not being preserved.

I knew I shoul dhave nicked that VC10 last time I was there... :sad:Inside the new cold war hangar monstrosity is the F1-11 preserved by the RAF Museum.
Strange that an aircraft which was turned down by the RAF should be mollycoddled in a heated dehumidified hangar whilst classic British successes are being broken up outside.
Makes you proud dunit.

Thanks for the update link Toby
Well..always hard to tell exactly form pics, but I can say it's not what I expected
But I'm not surprised at the level of 'care' shown of those that are supposed to be re assembled.
Hopefully it's not as bad as it looks

Not necessarily wishing to stir up the controversy again - just to get things straight in my mind; this is all happening because this museum is now the 'RAF' museum, and that BA no longer wish - or can afford - to 'keep' these Airliners, right?
Even though it's 'RAF', could the MoD, or whoever looks after the military stuff not have branched out a bit to have taken over their up-keep?

That's right Chris
BA no longer supported and the RAF didn't and wouldn't take them on
What the concern here is, the One-Eleven and Viscount are supposed to be saved complete and transferred.....but they look to be getting damaged.
The VC 10 forward fuse is going to Brooklands with the rest scrapped.

I was down at East Fortune last week. The 1-11 is coming up late september, together with the other viscount wing. the 707 forward fusalage is indoors, as is Whats left of the trident nose, which is currently in the workshop, so I only got some photos through the glass in the door.
Also go some shots at a wee museum in Inverness, which was closed so i took some pics through the fence...
The Viscount wing was Damaged when they lifted it off the transporter, so the guys at the museum will need to do some work there too.
I was really disapointed that it wasn't the complete trident nose section
