ILS dropout

Twice in recent weeks I have had ILS failures - once on the Trident and last night on the Dove - although the Ils frequency is tuned and identified, the HSI ( or as I call it the AH) remains inert as far as glideslope and localiser needles are concerned - the flags remain displayed indicating a total failure to pick up the signal. Has anyone any idea what causes this - even an exit and reload does not cure it, and on the Trident it eventually came back of its own accord

I had similar problems once because I forgot to switch the AP from GPS to NAV.....Not saying that this is your problem but just a thought

I have done that several times...infuriating

Ah - I have done that on eg the VC10, but I didn't know it could happen on the Trident. I looked in the manual for a switch but couldn't see one. How do you switch please?

Chris,
Assuming that you have it installed (it was an after-thought), it is immediately left of and close to the FL100 light. It is not labelled but UP is NAV

Assuming that you have it installed (it was an after-thought), it is immediately left of and close to the FL100 light. It is not labelled but UP is NAV

Quite opposite of the VC10-version ;-) so don't go confusing them...

Thanks to you both.I shall have a look. Now, having done so, I must have an early version as there is no switch for GPS. It must have been a program fault which caused it. Incidentally, I must be going senile/daft with my references to AH in the original post!

Now goto:-
X:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\DMFS Shared Files\HS121 Trident Panel VC
In Panel.cfg...
[Window00]

Add this:-
gauge72=Cessna208!Nav-GPS-Switch, 20,730,20,30
[Vcockpit01]

.
Add this:-
gauge24=Cessna208!Nav-GPS-Switch, 57,264,20,30
Remember to Save the files and now the switch will appear...Remember it has no labels but UP=NAV and DOWN=GPS.
The switch is very useful and enables you to lock onto your flightplanned GPS tracks...but don't forget to return the switch to UP=NAV before attempting to lock to an ILS.
