Another first flight

Post by TobyV »

Quite an adventure. I did a dummy un last night and apart from a slightly sloppy approach and touchdown, all AOK. Tried it again last night but gave up because it got too late (too early?! ) and then again this morning when I managed to lose engine authority due to starting 'em with the keyboard  So third tim lucky and all goes well until I get to EHAM a little high on the approach but thats no bad thing since although I am cleared to land, theres an MD-80 lined up for takeoff  So ATC sends me on a littlesigh seeing tour of the North Sea and just as I am about to give up, they vector me in for another attempt. 92fpm touchdown, not brilliant and just like David M, I run out of fuel just as I receive my gate  So quickly apply parking brake and it awards me "100%" :-#

Well done Toby

Having had a couple of pints last night.. I decided in the wee hours to bring Vanguard ED back from Bonn to LHR and managed to throw her on the ground exactly 100fpm heavier!! So.. don't drink and drive and don't fly when you're too tired to keep your eyes open!!

I'd get your 1-11 back matey but I don't have type rating on them. Don't worry too much about leaving it there though as if no one is able to retrieve it, you already have your next flight planned when you get back online

ATB (and good luck with the move)

Hi Dave,

I have that flight planned because I intend to squeeze it in today... obviously one only has 24 hours grace and I think it'll take a lot longer than that to get my BB back... first I have to work out how to get the BT line connected and then once I have a working phone line, I'll find out how many calls to Orange in India and how long it will take to move my BB package!

So.. don't drink and drive and don't fly when you're too tired to keep your eyes open!!
So that'll explain why I nearly put 'EE in Kirkliston last night. (It was foggy).

Afterthought; no reference to the original 'EE intended.

Cheers

If you land on rwy 31 at Turnhouse and keep going, you'll get there.

They used to have arrester nets on it, not a great deal of use wthe 14' 6" props though.
