Very sad to hear that :sad: .....watched him many times when he presented Tomorrows' World, also thoroughly enjoyed listening to him whenever he presented anything to do with aircraft. He had a certain knack of grasping the viewers attention.

He had the knack of speaking with calm and authority while at the same time pride and enthusiasm.

Always reminded me of an uncle who could keep you captivated for hours with great stories.

I remember him as the 'face' of Tomorrows World on BBC TV for many years.

The BBC Ceefax service says he was working right up to the day before he died.

Tragically another legend who made his last public appearance at Goodwood on the Saturday of the Revival. A gentleman whose measured tones defined the word mellifluous (ok I had to check the spelling).

I think there was an article that he wrote about having a flight in the second seat of a Jaguar, possibly for Aeroplane Monthly. At the end of the flight he was given the controls - and the other Jaguars in the formation fell back so that he led a formation of RAF aircraft for one last time. The sort of detail he enjoyed, and a sign of the respect he was held in.

Goodwood on a sunny day, with Merlins overhead, and Raymond in the commentary box was always worth the journey. He'll be sadly missed.

I could listen to RB all day. I'm sure he wasn't everyones cup of tea but he always managed to keep me captivated.
