Hi Guys,

My system is pretty antiquated by some's standards but I don't find the Trident a problem.

Athlon XP2500
512mb Ram
Radeon 9700PRO

Scenery settings are:

Special effects detail Medium

Terrain Complexity High
Terrain texture size High
Terrain detail Land only
Water effects High
dawn/dusk ticked
extended ticked

Scenery objects
Complexity Dense
Autogen density Normal
add-on dynamic ticked
slider normal
gnd scenery shadows no tick

Sun glare/lens flare both ticked

Aircraft

Quality high
VC Gauges qual High
all 3 boxes ticked

Weather

sight draw 60
Cloud draw 40
3d % 30

detailed clouds
density high

Hardware

Target Frames 30
screen res 1280x1024x32

Rendering
Render to texture No tick
T & L Ticked
Anti-alias Ticked
Bilinear Filtering
MIPP qual 4
Hardware rendered lights 4

Global Texture size Massive

The above seem to work for me.

My graphics card anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering is NOT set to application preference. My settings are:

Anti-a : 4x
max res : 1600 x 1200
Anisotropic filtering : 8x
Anisotropic filtering method : Quality
Texture preference : High Quality
MipMap Detail level : High quality
Wait for vertical sync : Always On
Truform : App Pref (shows this when slider moved to 'quality')

Only other thing I can think of on the Trident is that more of the original textures come in 32 bit format.
The wings are 32-bit as well, as opposed to just the fuselage/tail on the Comet.
Have you run the texture converter on it?

John, your setup looks about equal to mine, probably a little better.
I don't get any problem with t'Trident either.
One thing in your setting jumped out at me - you say you have anti-alias set in FS.
Have you tried it without that ticked?
People reckon it's best to run it like that if your card can handle the AA on its own. Don't know if it really makes much difference, but I don't have it ticked in FS & so the card is 100% responsible for AA.

Hi Dave,

I'll try it unticked and see what happens. I thought, maybe wrongly, I don't know, that if your main graphic card setting was 'unchecked' for application preference it ignored the application settings and did it's own 'thing'.

Yo dudes,

The only person in the WORLD I know that uses the FS setting for AA is Tony Madge. For him, setting the AA on the card just doesn't work. For me, setting AA in FS has no difference whatsoever

John's system looks pretty similar to mine too (well, this one anyway). His CPU is 100mhz higher but I have 512kb more ram. Graphics card is the same but some of my FS settings might be a little higher. That's not bragging.. just how they've turned out. When you spend a lot of time beta testing and the authors say you have to have THIS setting, you put that setting on. To all intents, this system is just about sh@gged! :dunno: I don't have the latest drivers cause there aren't any. You have a card 2 or 3 years old (which the 9700 is) and you'll probably find the best drivers were those that came with it (or those released shortly after)

Now.. what was I talking about
