Don't knock my tubby little friend!!

I bet the BEA pilots liked it as although it wasn't particularly fast (in the grand scale of things), it could show a very clean pair of heels to a DC3.. the alternative of the day and was faster than the Ambassador at lower altitudes. Pax also had one very important advantage when flying on Vikings.. those lovely stewardesses had to negotiate the main spar! :redface:

I wish I could put my hand on the cartoon depicting the plight of the Viking stewardess but sadly.. I can't. I'm sure you get the idea though

I'm sure it's on one of my old pc's too but I'm darned if I can find it :think:

The Heron would have been very similar to the same Garry. A tad more restricted than the Viking (2+1 rather than 1+1) but hey.. any port in a storm

Thank goodness Shack's never had stewardesses :shock:

There must surely have been accidents with tripping and spilling over passenger....even if it was rare, it must have happened

I can imagine the difficulty trying to step over in in turbulence when as you walk you seem to stay in place while the aeroplane goes up and down

This is the stripped-down interior of the Brooklands Viking, G-AGRU, but it doesn't seem to have a geodetic structure.

Hi Pete

It wouldn't be on the fuse....that's not a Wellington structure.

Only the Welling parts retained the geodetic structure of the Wellington.that why I mentioned Wellington structure rather than geocetic in a general term.

Anything made for Vikings was conventional including the wings once the Wellington stock was used up.

The Brookands example is and early one and has the short fuse so almost certainly will be one with Wellington basic stucture..........on the shared parts
