We were flying back to BHX from Coventry Fri/Sat when we flew overhead a transporter on the M6 Toll road could have been going on the M42 even (heading to M6 N or M42 towards Tamworth)
When we saw an Iberia 727 fuselage no reg number or titles but the distinctive Iberia cheat lines going over the forward fuselage. No tail or engines but the complete body.
Anyone have any clues as to its destination? Saw the VC10 from Cosford going along the M42 towards the M40/M5 the other day VRM shame to see it stripped and just the mid and rear fuselage.
Seems the M42 is the place to see classic airliners nowadays!

Me me me

That would be the fusilage on its way to Finningley, (Robin Hood Airport), here at Doncaster.

It is arriving for use (I think) with crewing/staff training, for one of the companies that use the airport site.

According to the local (Yorkshire) version of ceefax it was due to arrive last Sunday, but as I have yet to visit Finningley I can't confirm if its arrived & where its at.

The TV ceefax bit did say that in a previous life it was with Iberia, so I'm guessing what you saw was 'it'.
