Just slightly off-topic but still with MS windows downloads and just in case anyone wants to know how I got on with Windows Media Player 11:
Another easy, succesful installation and very nice it is too. I couldn't say what it does that WMP 10 doesn't do but it looks very modern.

It's reminded me to do some serious music downloading before the US puts too much pressure on the Russians over allofmp3.com.

Allofmp3 is a great site. If the yanks get shot of it I won't be using itunes or any of the other shite on offer.

I got IE7 last night & installed it. Seemed ok.
Today has been the worst internet performance in over two years, slow as anything & totally unreliable.
I then found out my ISP had reported a problem for a small minority of their customers. Great bit of timing eh?

Still, could have been worse. If the ISP had kept it quiet I may have been back with IE6 by now.

All fired back into top notch action about half an hour ago, so fingers crossed there's no problems to report here either.

Now, those Russians.
I've used them before in the past on someone elses recommendation.
Recently I was getting a bit concerned by the changes & general tone in the forums and had stopped using them.
Then recently the credit card I'd used for them had over Â£1000 spent on it in a London hotel & around town.
Not saying it was linked in any way, but I'm normally quite careful & they were the only people I ever seriously worried about giving my card details to. :think:
All taken up by the fraud people & no cost to me, but just keep a careful eye on it.

I would say it has a bloody good chance! Lets face it you might as well go to limewire and get the stuff for free as using the Russkies is also not legal, I am sure they send all money to the artists...just like limewire do

All gone quiet oin this thread so I guess IE7 must be running OK now

I was only offered it this morning and I installed it

I must say it looks hideous with XP style buttons and logos...I use widows traditional style as I loathe the childish look of XP

TBH I don't see any advantages on what I use if for and if I can't see any I will go back to 6 because I just don't like the way they have moved things arround.

No performance problems for sure.

But I just wonder if there is any real need to keep it :think:

I think you should get acquainted with it,
It is actually presented in the security update section meaning that several security issues has been taken into consideration.

I've used it for approx 14 days now, and once you get used to tabbed browsing, the rearrangement of buttons etc. it is actually quite neat.

Heck, even my wife got used to it after an evenings browsing ;-)

Only use IE6 if I have to for Firefox-unfriendly websites, eg those that want to use ActiveX controls :shock: And therein lies one of IE's weaknesses.

You can force extensions to work.. go and grab the extension named 'MR Tech Local Install'.. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/421/

I use it to get FireSomething working.. and that's for 1.5!

I have Netscape and that has tabbed browsing which I don't like at all

I am get fed up with the messages asking if all the tabs want to close

That is one of the reasons I don't like using Netscape and use IE

One snag...I can't log onto a web space I have :sad:
