It's a new built in security feature for the 777. Basically, the FO can use his seat as a toilet, so he doesn't have to leave the flight deck and open the flight deck door. I believe the captain has one to, but his comes with Aloe Vera paper.

On a serious note, I was talking to an F/O who is flying for a new outfit we are handling at Manchester, and he told me that his previous airline only allowed the crews to open the door twice per hour. It's like being a prisoner!

Hope the crew meal lasagne didn't ever give them the Trotts!
