Hi all,
here's one for you. What do we think of Train Sim's? I can't ever recall the subject being discussed here so I thought I'd ask to get a general impression of them.
I saw a copy of Trainz Railway Simulator in the supermarket the other day and because it was under a fiver I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try.
I was occupied for about 10-15 minutes and have now un-installed it. Personally it was'nt for me. I have never even considered the Microsoft Train Sim offering and if the Trainz sim was anything to go by then I probably won't bother ever again!
Anyone like em? :k:
(ps you'll be pleased to know after consultation with a specialist I am now back Flight simming again

LIke our cloassic aircraft its a way to relive the past but you need to do all, the little bits and bobs that go with it.

Hi Eddie. I tried Microsoft Train Simulator a couple of years ago but it gets boring very quickly. The graphics aren't a patch on FS and being on only two dimensions and having to obey signals doesn't give you much input. However it IS much better than Trainz.
It's much like the real thing - I work on the railways and the best bit is taking the p*ss out of the drivers. I point out they've only got three levers to think about. One for go, one for stop and one to make a noise. And they still screw up on a regular basis
Anyway, I gave my copy to a gricer friend who loves it and spends all his waking hours driving an HST from London to York
As MS have now dropped Train Simulator it might be worth waiting for the new Rail Simulator from Kuju (who wrote the original MSTS). They haven't given a release date but it's well advanced and looks very nice indeed. I might be tempted - have a look here:

I don't mind them but I find them boring after a short while. I think its the lack of control over where you go that gets to me.
I am watching the progress of the new Kuju sim though, see here:

I think those guys made the Traim Sim for MS but i'm not sure.

Not by much! It does look tempting, though, doesn't it?
Garry - don't be rude! It's just that I'm on a higher plane than the rest of you

plane or plain....
Anyway by the look of it, you haven't even levitated from the ground yet.....
I've been looking at this Avatar quite a bit now, and I wonder if it IS his right foot toe, that you can see a little to the left of the abdomen...or something else....

Well, lets have a close up look, shall we?
He's certainly concentrating hard enough to levitate. Unless he's just constipated
I think it's a Dolce et Gabbana loincloth, but I'm not sure.
