When I was at uni there was an American girl from near Seattle living in my block in halls. She used to refer to things as "punk ass" if she was annoyed with them and we just cracked up laughing

Oh Man,, That is crazy... I spent a lot of time both in Detroit and L.A... There really is a whole language that is very loosely based on English. In L.A., a good deal of time had passed before I stopped asking, "I'm sorry,, what was that?, Why did you just call this bar a bitch?" ..

I'm sure the same is true of most of English speaking Europe in that, one can travel from one end of the country, {Continent } to another and experience multiple dialect's. I find it to be amazing and fascinating. It can really be an Art form. At the same time, It reminds us that we, as Humans, are still isolated from one another, perhaps more than we should be.

I laughed my ass of over the Delta clip though. The fact that a plain spoken white guy delivered it really is funny.

The real irony of the Delta joke is very simple economics

I first heard basically the same clip as a wav file about 15 years ago
At the time Delta and Atlanta (its home base) were the darlings of
the yuppie generation. and was the airline of choice for service, realiability and generally considered "the way to fly". The wav file was created by
a group of computer geeks who worked for Delta and were belittling
Value Jet (nee AirTran) as Air Greyhound (for those on the right side of the pond - Greyhound bus line - cheap trancontinental bus service - not the way to travel unless you leave anything of value at home) and Airmarta
referring to the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit.....again not the chosen method of transportation for the young white upwardly mobile.....well 15 years later
AirTran is one of the leaders in Lowcost airlines in the US basically ruling the South East and spreading across the US rapidly - Delta of course is in bankruptcy and wavers on the brink of recievership.

Amazing how times change isnt it.

BTW Atlanta isnt the same either - unless you live 20 miles outside of I285 the perimeter highway around the city

Cheers
