BAC 1-11 ....a question from a new addict

 Hi All, first a hearty thank you to Mr. Maltby I love revisiting the old BACs I loved as a kid. I used to see Braniff 1-11s in Chicago and marveled at how loud they were. Your model and VC is a joy to fly and is fast becoming my favorite acft to fly.
My 2 questions are... Has anyone gotten a VC rain effect to work on the BAC 1-11? and would it be possible to have fuel gauges calibrated in pounds in the next update for us U.S. drivers? Thanks again for a fun toy

Hi Stan

And Welcome to our little hang out

I think the lack VC rain effect is something that there is a problem with that is not to do with the One-Eleven itself.

I am sure one of the model me can explain why

Hi Stan,

I may be off the mark here but I've a feeling the VC rain (or lack of) is to do with the model being made in FSDS NOT Gmax. This facility may have been introduced in v3 (can't remember what Rick said about it at the time) and if not, will probably be on the list for the next version.

As for the fuel, unless I've lost the plot.. the fuel burn gauges already read kgh. The panel that comes with all but the 510ED variants are all calibrated in kgh and the 510ED variant was purely for the BEA/BA market anyway so would remain more Anglo Saxon

Hi Stan

Glad to hear you're enjoying the 1-11.

Sorry, it's kg only for the release version, it's too much work for me to maintain all kinds of subtle differences.
There are actually some pound calibrated fuel gauges already inside the 'DM_1-11.cab' so you could change the gauges over yourself in the panel.cfg if you know how.
e.g. Find the gauges like FUEL_LOAD_KG_C & change them to FUEL_LOAD_LB_C etc.
Can't swear that the pound gauges work correctly, because I've not seen them for ages, but they should be ok.

The VC rain effect is one of those things I've heard about but never got round to looking at.
I would imagine it needs something extra compiling into the model, so you probably can't do anything with the current model.

Does anyone already know how it's done?
Got to admit, I've not got enough enthusiasm to go looking & learning at the moment.
I will add it in the next update if it's easy enough.

Here's a VC Rain effects tute on FFDS for FSDS 3.

It all went a bit hazy when I was looking at it

Might be of use to someone though.

Thanks Jonbouy.

I know what you mean about it all going a bit hazy, it did the same to me when I was reading it.
It's like there's some static buzz coming off the page & if you turn the speakers up I'm sure it's saying "don't do it" over and over.

Not quite this side of 'easy enough' for me.
Thanks very much for finding it though, I've taken a copy just in case I feel the need one day.

 David those LBS. gauges work perfectly.Thank you for including them in your .CAB.I worked on AAs F-100s for 12 or so years and am amazed by how much 1-11 I saw in that airplane so many similarities it's uncanny. Thanks again
