Damn that's some awesome power.

Though, it does indeed concern me that with all that power, and riding like that.. you'd think they'd be wearing more than just gloves and a helmet!

Reminds me of a chap I saw in town a few weeks back.. he blazed it across one of the busiest bridges in town.. on a Hayabusa. With only a helmet for protection.

..might look cool.. but it's a little silly?

Well running on one wheel at 250 (mph or km/h) seems to me a tad more than just silly....

KPH I would think Dan

But I don't think it ever looks cool Dan

Just stupid.

And dangerous...A bit like flashing a loaded gun around town in a crowd with the belief it won't go off.

Any mistake and someone is dead........that's not cool or clever

True, I don't think it looks 'cool' either, though I do think the power is quite awesome.

I believe the reason it goes on one wheel is because of said power- it might not be a trick. Though I should think that it's controllable.. a little.

My best friend is a biker.. if he did stuff like that then I wouldn't be too happy. As you say Garry.. one slip, and the fun is over.

I'm sure one of the bikers will chime in. I'm more of a TVR fan myself ;)

The vid is in KPH also.

I think the wheel lifting is only because the power is applied quickly.

There is obviously a lot of it there

The power is OK used properly.

I have known too many that have been killed doing things like that and one was a pillion who came off the back during a wheel lift at speed.

I don't know how much power R1's normally knock out but I'd guess looking at the film that the machine in question has been 'breathed on' somewhat  My ZX9R won't do that!!

The bike can wheelie because it has excess torque, in a similar way to a prop making an aircraft swing on takeoff (if you have a Sea Fury or something like that).

Yamaha R1

152bhp at 12,400 RPM, 74 lb/ft at 9,900 RPM, Dry Weight 172kg.
Top Speed 171MPH, 0-60 3.30sec. Standard.

If you don't know bikes try to imagine 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds.

Definitely KPH, it looked like Germany to me. Like Dave I'm sure that one was tuned, probably a turbo charger which could cause wheelying if the boost comes in too suddenly.

As a biker I'd say that would be impressive on a race track, nowadays there are plenty open for informal track days, on a public road with traffic very stupid and dangerous.

On second thoughts you'd probably get thrown out of a track day for riding like that.
