Hello all, I've tried everything I can think of including redownloading/installing but have no luck. Not able to talk to atc for clearances. Can anyone lend a hand? Everything else works ok sofar. Batteries + Gens are on. I really like the Tridents, first airliner I ever landed yet.

thx Ken :think:

Hi Ken and welcome to the forum :wink:

I'm presuming you are using FS9 (or 9.1) with your Comet so have a look in the aircraft.cfg and check if your radio section looks like this..

[Radios]
// Radio Type=availiable, standby frequency, has glide slope
Audio.1=1
Com.1=1, 0
Com.2=1, 0
Nav.1=1, 0, 1
Nav.2=1, 0, 0
Adf.1=1
Adf.2=1
Transponder.1=1
Marker.1=1

The legend is pretty self explanatory but just in case.. this shows audio is available, I have one Com1 radio with no standby freq, one Com2 radio with no standby freq, 1 nav1 radio with no standby but has glideslope, 1 nav2 radio with no standby or glideslope, 1 adf1 radio and 1 adf2 radio, 1 transponder and one Marker :wink:

If your radio section looks like that, you'll be in business :wink:

If you are loading the flight with an add-on aircraft rather than a default one, this sort of thing can sometimes happen. Always best to load up with the Cessna first.

Quite a common problem this, judging by reports on the main forums.

Usually turns out to be the avionics not being switched on.

I have the avionics master switch tied in to my "V" key.

I quite often have to hit "V" to get the radios/AP to work. Depends on the aircraft and your default startup (mine is cold and dark).

Yep.. forgot the obvious one there.. starting with a default aircraft. I seem to remember a problem with the Comet radios a while ago (the cfg was incorrect) and no idea how it came about.

Some good advice given so fingers crossed, Ken will be speaking to the world again very soon :wink:

Ok, it was the avionics not switched on, so mapping the avionics master switch to a keyboard button fixed it. :smile:
Good people here.Thanks a million for all your help.

p.s. I am now completely hooked on flying classic british airliners :-$

Rgr that Ken.. glad you're sorted :wink:

Btw guy's.. I never have a problem with avionics being switched off. Is this because I load each flight with a default Cessna and they're on by default?? Starting Cold and Dark.. ok, you expect to have to turn everything on.. perhaps thats it :think:

Yes, that's exactly that.

My Default is the VC10 in cold and dark, luckily it has the avionics as a separate switch.

Otherwise I've associated SHIFT-A for "Avionics" IF I should ever happen to fly in another aeroplane ;-)

Tks Dan,

I rarely start C&D hence never think of suggesting Avionics. I dare not try and remember it for future reference as it might push something else important out the other side! :lol:

I would have bet money on there being an avionics switch on the Comet panel !
You learn something new every day. :smile:

Unlucky that, all the others have got one somewhere.
