sorry I have been a little scarce here (you all did miss me, right......please :worried: ) but I found out not to long ago that another favorite piece of software of mine has been updated, The Orbiter Space Flight Simulator.

now I am sure most of you have heard or played this but just in case here is a link

http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/orbit.html

which explains it better than i could, and it is FREE, I take my hat off to the author because he obviously spent a lot of time on this. but still has it free. that is something I have seen is starting to be very lacking in the FS community, (present company excluded, you all probably have the best packages out there that are still free ware)

Now that really looks good.........May well download after Christmas...Just think....Fly off to the USA with the VC10......Shuttle flight to the Space Centre on the BAC1-11 then a quick orbit round the earth........re-enter...
Shuttle flight back to airport again with the BAC1-11 then return VC10 or even the Comet.

Now that's what I call getting the best of both worlds with flight simulators!!!!

you that design planes are into programing or better into both might want to look at the SDK documentaiton. it looks like you have the freedom to create custom, vessels, engines, instruments and such that from what I have read in these forums you all would kill for in Flight simulator. here is the opening paragraghs from the api reference guide
This reference document contains the specification for the Orbiter Programming Interface. It is
not required for running Orbiter.
The programming interface allows the development of third party modules to enhance the
functionality of the Orbiter core. Examples for modules are:
· Additional instruments, simulation monitoring devices, and spacecraft controls
· Custom flight models
· Custom instrument panels
· Multiplayer modules
· Custom calculation of planetary positions
2 Requirements
The following components are required to build an addon module:
· The latest Orbiter package
· The Orbiter SDK libraries and include files (contained in the Orbiter SDK package)
· A C++ compiler running under Windows (the SDK was developed with VC++, the use of
other compilers may be possible, if they conform to the MS stack calling convention.)
really makes me wish I had done some programing in the time since I played with basic on my atari 800 computer
