Thanks for that, Ian.

I hadn't realised that there were updates to current versions of DirectX. I assumed that the next update would be DirectX 9.0d (if not DirectX 10).

Regards

There was a previous update to DX9c in August and it made a substantial difference to my FS9 (all good), so I'm hoping this one will also be beneficial

I would have missed that update like I seemed to have missed the August one. I assumed that I had the definitive DX9.0c already.

Wonder why they don't call it version 9.0d, etc?

Directx is updated monthly chaps

The December one includes updes for Directx10 too, If anyone is running Vista. Basically, you run the program and it downloads everything you need, wither its DX9 or 10

When you download something from the Microsoft Download site, you have an option of receiving a monthly email newsletter telling you what's new. Which is how I get my info.

Many people won't use the Microsoft site because of the requirement to have Microsoft check the validity of your copy of Windows (Windows Genuine Advantage - WGA). In case any of you don't know, there is an alternative way of getting Windows security and critical updates without subjecting your installation to Microsoft scrutiny.

You will need a non-Microsoft browser, such as Firefox, and go here:

http://windizupdate.com/

The site will prompt you to download a small Firefox add-on which will analyse your Windows installation for missing updates. You then have the option of downloading and installing them without Microsoft being involved.

And for those of you who do use Windows Update... the directx update will not appear there, you need to go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads and yes, you will need a genuine copy of windows.
