Well back to the here and now after all the tree work in nice weather in July...It is back to real weather and December 28th here at McLeland Field as I take my first short spin in the

IRIS F-15. You don't get a lot of daylight here in December so you need to do things at about midday.

Yes my last 18 months in the RAF was as a Lightning Simulator instructor and I managed to get a bit of Lightning flying at Middleton St George...Not much though

I'm the one on the end of the back row wearing a beret

Interesting stuff, and hats ( berets) off to you! I had a go on the Lightning simulator at RAF Coltishall as an ATC cadet on summer camp. If I remember correctly, my friend's dad was in charge of it.

Oh yes!...I did my training there on the Mark 1 Sim and then took up my post at Leconfield in the Mark 2...What was your friend's name ?

No I don't recall a Southwood...But also I don't recall who was in charge...Could have been Sqn. Ldr. Ramirez because I know he was connected with getting me the job...not sure though. Sadly, I have no record of my flights in either MkI or MkII Lightning Flight Simulators, I just don't seem to have recorded any of them in my logbook. I only seem to have started recording Simulator flights since I joined BEA and I guess that was because it was mandatory to record them for licencing purposes.
