Fascinating pictures. Just a case of being in the right place at the right time to capture them. More importantly, I'm glad everyone was ok.
Image I suffer from paranoid amnesia. I can't remember who I don't trust.Image

Ah yes indeed some media overhype Garry, but what doesn't show in the pics, @ another 25 yds further forwards and on the grass is a rather large 'hole' at present where new runway lights cables are being installed.
Could've been very mesy indeed.

The modern way

Make a fuss about something with negative publicity to get your own way

That Aurigny was a minor incident simple.

OK there is a potential...but you don't go reporting ever near miss in a car or if you slid onto the pavement without damage.

OK things need to be looked into to avoid this happening but the media always present it in a near disaster vein.

Even get reports of landings with a faulty warning light saying no one was injured....as if they would be :dunno:

As soon as it's an aeroplane it's a big incident

This kind of thing happens now and then, but a lot more in the past and even damaged the aircraft but not reported in the media like this.

Bear in mind Garry that it's only about a week since the "Blair's Jet Overshot Runway" shocker (i.e. missed the taxiway due to poor visibility) so it's nice and fresh in media minds; my particular favourite with that earlier story was the Daily Mail banging on about 'Blair getting another freebie' - let's face it, blagging a freebie is not anything a journalist would ever do, is it?

Indeed not....such an honourable band of gentlemen.

My favourite was years ago in the paper with a huge headline saying "Queens Jet in Collision Threat Drama". Thinking someone had come close to HM I looked at the story which was about a light aircraft that strolled into restricted purple corridor airspace the day before the Queen was due to fly the route in an Andover :dunno:

OK there were security concerns and steps needed to be taken to avoid it happening but the impression was almost that of an Air miss.

But a headline like that is more likely to sell the paper.

Still irritation though :huf:
