Did anyone watch....?

I just watched a dire Sci-Fi film on BBC1 entitled 'Wing Commander'.
The only thing that roused me from a stupor of boredom, were a few 'close-ups' of some of the spacecraft. They had distinct rounded bubble canopies' identical to that of the Canberra, right down to the small round window insert at 10 O'clock to the pilot.
Anyone else notice this?
Also, was one of the actors, the same as he who plays 'Poirot'?

Regards

Kevin

Wing Commander also used a Frightning cockpit iirc.. though I've never seen it myself. Just been told this by the 724 chaps.

Poirot is this chap: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Suchet . He played "Capt. Jason Sansky" in Wing Commander.. http://imdb.com/title/tt0131646/fullcredits

Hope that helps!

Dan. :worried:

I got rid of my telly last October, but this rings a bell; wasn't this film a spin-off from an old space combat flight sim series called Wing Commander, Wing Commander II, Wing Commander III etc etc ?

Yeah, Ive got WC3 knocking around somewhere. It wasnt a bad game for the time, and it had Mark Hamill starring in the FMV sequences. Must see if I can dig it out and get it going on my old machine

Although I've never actually seen the film I do remember and article in Empire magazine showing how lightning cockpits had been adapted for use in the film

After a bit of searching I've found these

A "Rapier" Fighter.

(Lightning attempts world record for the most cigarettes smoked at once!!!  )

A "Broadsword" Bomber

Lots more pictures to be found here

Wonder what became of all of these cockpit props once the movie had finished with them?

It's a same the film wasn't any good as from what I recall the game was quite enjoyable, I wonder if I've still got my copy somewhere?

A much better 'watch' was the episode before last of "Torchwood" featuring some wonderful footage of G-AIDL in action.
