Holker's Canberras

Guys --
On my computer, the repaints for Bill Holker's Canberras REALLY reduce my frame rates

It's almost as though they are TOO detailed.
Is there anything I can do to make them more user friendly? My thought was too delete things like the bombay and bulkhead bitmaps.
ANY THOUGHTS?

You might need to change any 32 bit bitmaps to DXT3 using ImageTool.

Marc,
They probably are! I know I put a lot of work into the few I have done so far, and then Steve worked on them even more when I sent them over!!! And all my testing tended to be done at Akrotiri, which is not the most complex of sceneries in FS9, even with ASV6 and UT Europe!!
Peter, as ever, has the answer.

Peter --
Your suggestion seems to have worked, sir! The a/c is much easier to load, to "walk around", etc.
And, aren't they fun to fly -- a bomber that handles almost like a fighter!

Peter --
Almost forgot...
I wonder -- do I have to convert ALL the textures for each folder?

Also, Andy...
I hope you know that I do not intend any criticism at all of your work. Please, keep 'em coming!

If you open the paint folder you should see previews of the 32 bit
If some are showing previews and other not...then just compress the ones showing previews.
The more you turn to 32bit the more you will help the speed
DXT.3 format do not show previews.

Guys --
For some reason, the Flash player on my computer will not let the Canberra repaint module work
How can I get to the file directory?

Marc,
Good job you got it figured out - I am currently rebuilding a totally new version of my site, and the Canberra repaint module will temporarily be out of action until I rebuild the gaming section.
Regarding the DXT3 dilemma, we've seen several posts about this recently. I choose to do my tex conversions at extended 32b bit as I prefer the lossless quality to the bitmap - I've tried them at DXT3, trust me, and I notice a drop in quality, especially on gradients. I fully respect the decision of other painters and users to convert my repaints to that format, but I do want to state on record (as it were!) why I do them differently. Everyone's PC handles differently, and believe me, mine is not top notch, but it is able to handle this format.
While you are more than welcome to download the Holker Canberra repaints, don't forget a whole new series is coming out soon that should be better (not sure about frame rate-wise though) than before as I've learnt a few more tricks since then!
Best,
Steve
