After the problems with the Viscount in Scotland,I had a bright idea,Grab a vickers funbus and do a bit of globe trotting.

So i got myself comfy in the left hand seat of G-AGSC and blasted off for South Africa. The first leg went well arriving in Zurich with no problems,Onwards to Ciaro, and once again all is well on the Good ship Soggy.Things were about to take a turn for the worse.

I departed Cairo yesterday morning heading for Nairobi,3 hours into the flight i felt a bit tired, and rather than speed the sim up i paused it and buggered off to bed, back down a few hours later unpause and away we go.15 minutes later the computer reboots on its own .Too late to restart the flight i toddled off to work slightly annoyed.

WooHoo early finish this morning,I know i will refly last nights flight right to the end,Then go to bed.

Smooth departure (new Cairo sceenery is ok btw) nice climb upto FL330,Autoplilots engaged, cheat by switching to gps(all flown manually nav wise yesterday),and off to catch up on the forums,Roughly 3 hrs into the flight,Just crossing into Kenyan airspace,THE BLOODY THING REBOOTS AGAIN :curse: :brick:

Me thinks there may be a problem with the cooling/amount of power being supplied to the graphics card,If anyone has had similar problems please let me know how you fixed it.

Sorry for the long winded story but it was either type this or smash the sodding thing up with a hammer .

I will try it one more time, only this time it will be done at 8x speed as i am bored watching the camels go by the terminal windows.

Cheers,
Pete

I don't have any 3rd party scenery installed for this part of the world, and when it crashes the screen go's blank folllowed by a beep as the computer restarts itself.very very annoying.

Managed to get to Nairobi, had to speed the sim up as a man has to sleep sometime.

ATC were no help.First they vectored me through a severe storm with windshear of +/- 700fpm.Then they sent me whizzing over the top of a rather large hill,I cleared with no more than 300' to spare.(this hill is situated about 24nm SW of the airport).

Onwards!! to Johannesburg.

P.S.

Dan whats an eventlog?

Hi Pete..

I've had this happen more than once recently.. no explanation given after the reboot.. it's just restarted  For my part, I put it down to what is now an old pc feeling its age :dunno: I can't 'guarantee' it happening but have found that toward the end of a particularly busy day's flying, it's more likely to happen. It could well be down to a cooling problem but this particular system has never suffered from an excess of heat and the case is usually cool to touch.. I have 3x80mm fans (2 on the front and 1 at the rear).

The frustrating thing is that it normally happens during a flight!!

check for dust clogging up the fan grilles and cpu heatsink.
DONT use a hoover either.

Well the rather large hill is part of the fun, it's called Rift Valley, and is also available as a freeware scenery from AVSIM ;-)

Regarding the "wear" of the computer, it might be a good idea to reboot after each flight in order to start all fresh and new...

Works for me.

I always reboot the system just before I start up a FS session.

Dave,

I had the same thoughts about cooling myself,So i got the sprogs paintbrushes out and give it a dust,Loads of crud had built up on the fans etc... I have left one side of the case open and have vowed to dust the internals at least once a fortnight from now on.

With a bit of luck i should be getting some money through soon so i will be building a new system.
