... Then head on up to Scotland tonight

Edinburgh has about 30kts on the ground

Image

Going around due to slow vacating traffic

Then nearly 70kts at 3000ft as we try again . . . .

and second time lucky . . .

Image

and it's still blowing 26kts pulling onto stand . . .

And looking at the Met Office TAFs for Glasgow, they have 35 gusting 50 until 9pm

Tell me about it, I congratulated the bus driver on achieving his ATPL tonight, I've had less scary flights than the X47 tonight

I had a jaunt up to Glasgow for the CBFS va to give it a go.
It was windy, 40kt+ on approach, but down to 20 at the runway.
Slightly disapointing because it was all quite steady for me & blowing nearly in line with the runway too.
Think I got lucky/unlucky.
It was good, but not half as scary as Sunday's landing at Glasgow was.

I flew from Glasgow to Stansted real-world today. Just boarding and walking down the aisle to the rear of the swaying A319 was fun. Take off was pretty uneventful in the end.

Well...if you like it windy and cold...come to North Dakota!

Luckily the wind has died down, but over the past day and a half we've been having winds out of the NW gusting over 30kts, with surface temps around -27C at night. Now the wind is less than 5kts, but the temp is -30C.

Last night at work I was bored so I did a density altitude calculation and given the prevailing conditions the DA at the time worked out to be over 4000' BELOW sea level (KJMS is 1498' MSL). I guess that would be somewhat off the performance charts.

I got home from work this morning at 0600 to discover my furnace had ceased working during the course of the night...not a pleasant surprise

It's back up and running now...

Regards,
Scott
KJMS (or thereabouts)

Blimey - yes - look at this monster TAF

EKCH 131040Z 131818 20015KT 9999 SCT030 BECMG 1820 8000 -RA SCT010 BKN015 BECMG 2123 21020G30KT TEMPO 2202 4000 BR BKN008 BECMG 0204 26028G40KT 9999 NSW SCT030 TEMPO 0406 27032G50KT BKN020CB BECMG 0709 27035G58KT BECMG 1214 27030G45KT BECMG 1416 28025KT

50 degrees off, 35 gusting 58kts - that'll make for some fun and games tomorrow morning ! :worried:

Cheers

I don't have time to fly right now, so I've saved current weather to try it another time.
I've used the programme at

http://www.bearsoft.de/

for some years. You can save and replay whenever you like.
