Hi folks,

Does anyone know the name of the typeface used by BOAC in the final days? The font used for the gold BOAC legend on the engine nacelles and the fuselage sides?

Cheers DaveB!

A further fifteen minute's frantic searching uncovered a .eds BOAC file from brandsoftheworld.com so I have it now. (I'm trying to repaint the Dreamfleet 727 into BOAC livery...)

Hi PhilipsCDRW

Welcome to the forum

Try Arena black for BOAC

No BOAC 727's  only Dan Air and Sabre in the UK used the type.

...and Cougar  ... although strictly speaking that was spun off from Sabre when they were bought out and became Excel.

But BA did fly 727s remotely, albeit not in the UK.

Comair in South Africa flew at least five 727s in various tail schemes as a BA franchise partner. See Airliners.net and select '727' and 'BA' from the search menu. The link is so huge it takes half a page I'm afraid, or I'd have linked it directly. One of them had a psuedo Landor type scheme as well, which looks a trifle odd.

It also seems they leased an ATA 727 as well, with BA titles with an ATA fin.
