From the BBC tonight...
The new operating system (Vista) goes on sale in four home versions, boasting an improved interface and security tools.
But not all PCs will be able to run Vista - Microsoft recommends machines have at least 512Mb of RAM, a 800Mhz processor and 15Gb of hard disk space. (!!!)

I love the way they do that

Let's hope businesses don't buy-in to that spec as they'll have to pay staff to go in on Sunday to turn their pc's on so they'll be ready to go on Monday morning!

I think it will work just great if you switch off all of those neat utilities, so you almost are back to DOS.....THEN it'll work a treat..:-)

I don't think I will worry about it
Eventually when this system gets replaced, Vista or some later version will be the standard fit.
A wish to upgrade now would require a need to handle stuff XP is struggling to do.
Seeing as XP does all I need and meets my limited requirements there is not the need.
By the time I do upgrade everything will have moved on and it will be the standard running the upgraded versions of all I use now.
So I will let the world move on a bit then catch up when I need to

I've said it before - it's only an operating system. What goes on top should be more important.
But considering that I've spent the last few days using command line Linux on a device with 32Mb RAM and a 133 Mhz processor, perhaps my needs are limited
