My Back Garden

I'm lucky enough that if I walk out my back door i'm pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

As it's been such a nice day today I went and rode around on my bike with my camera.

Not the best photos I know but i'm gonna post them anyway... Sorry to those not on broadband, there's a few.

There seems to be some spots in the sky on a few. Best clean the lens and sensor.

It's very wet and muddly out there.

Image

Some good tracks to ride but it's tough not getting clogged up with all the mud.

Image

The hill in the background is known locally as 'Hang Man's Hill'. Where the slightly larger trees are on the right side of the hilltop is where crims were hung in the good old days.

Image

The river's quite high, I always wonder where all that crap comes from along the edge, people must throw tons of stuff in every year.

Image

My baby, I can't work out why my mates are laughing at my new pedals though :dunno:

Image

Some sheep eating some grass, tasty.

Image

Local legend says a plane crashed in these woods in WW2. As kids we spent hours trying to find bits of it. There is a clearing in the middle and a large big crater on the other side of the woods so I guess it's possible.

River Trent I imagine.

Is the church at Shelford? If not where were you?

It is Ian.

The photo of the Trent was almost opposite Stoke Bardolph, a little bit towards Radcliffe and the church was the one in Shelford.

I used to love the view of Shelford and the Trent valley when flying in Chippies with the ATC many many years ago from RAF Newton .Seem to remember the grass runway (30) I think gave the best views.ATB EricT

Thank you Rob

Now and then I hanker for the Britain that I used to know and love - reminds me a bit of Brockworth when I was a lad - thought everything had gone to the bulldozer and the developer - glad to see Im wrong

Cheers

Those woods where the plane is rumoured to have come down is pretty much at the end of one of Newton's runways, well it would be if they weren't full of sheep eating grass nowdays.

Still, rather sheep than a housing estate I suppose...
