No Jab - Id like to remember Redhill my own way - from the Right seat of a Hornet Moth (GADKL) going to visit the Tiger club on a beautiful May morning many many years ago. and the fastest way to get a little airport closed is to invite "bizjets" in - the NIMBY's would have a field day

Tend to agree with Leif here. Theres a lot of places round London already doing this kind of thing - Farnborough, Biggin Hill, Blackbushe? and previously Hatfield for example so there cant be that much spare demand for bizjets? One GA pilot I spoke to last year has actually moved away from the ever more tarmacced Shoreham to grass Goodwood because its more relaxing - less traffic, less queueing to depart and generally more of a 'biggles' ttype back-to-basics flying experience and with a (relatively low) environmental impact.

Anyway - the loverly sound of a Gypsy and the smell of 80 Octane and cut grass just get me everytime - Call me an old softie :roll: Plus as I remember they used to do the best Ham Cheese and Tomato sarnies anywhere

Yes Toby you caught my nostalgic moment perfectly Seems amazing back then we all dreamed about being born 40 years earlier and
replacing the sound of Austers and Chipmunks etc etc with the growl of Spitfires and Hurricanes - However and Im not sure if some of our younger members would understand - some of my fondest memories (before discovering girls) would be laying in the grass beside the runway at Old Warden soaking in the sounds smells and tastes (clover tasted MUCH better in the 1960s trust me)

Ok thats it sentimental moment over -- back to work

I do agree though, the memories of my great grandad were magical to me as a young kid. Just wish I could have seen them for real.

Ah yes Young Otter, there was this rather nice bint named Maureen in the back of the Seamarks coach going to BAC Stevenage christmas panto trip , that would have been around that time - but the only thing I could find to tie it to"Classic British" was BAC Stevenage and Seamarks! :roll:
