A news update on the Apollo model form Tekman
Been a bit quite but much progress has been made recently
I have received a couple more pics from the author who is unable to host the pics for technical reasons.
The project is still moving along and these latest two progress shots show the first prototype parked outside the old Armstrong-Whitworth factory hangar at Coventry.
This factory add on has been built by Tekman to be include in the pack
A nice touch

Like the look of that one Garry, and as you say, the add on is a nice touch.

Hi Graham
I'm glad Tekman has taken this on as details are hard to resource.
Fortunately he has detailed information on it.
For example I have never seen a colour pic so I had no idea what colour it was.
At least now historical knowledge can be expanded on the type.
That's what I like about FS...bringing history back to life

oooh that is pretty, needs a touch of anti-aliasing on the video card though.

It's interesting to read comments regarding my project which has not been without it's problems but then that goes for most projects hey?
Research material has been rather thin on the ground for this one but thanks to various favours being pulled in I've managed to get accurate information in the main.
Colour photos of the prototype were very thin on the ground in those days and it's quite likely that only publicity shots would have been available. I don't have any colour pics of the Apollo but I have spoken to people who not only have seen the Apollo's but who were actually around the aircraft and after much persistent pestering and colour viewings these were the decided colours.
The project, I hope will be available from next week sometime and I will post up on AVSIM.
I have one permission to hopefully obtain from Mr Maltby regarding utilising part of the Comet 4C rear cockpit graphics so if your reading this sir I'd appreciate permission to use them please.
The factory hangar model is as accurate as I dare to be poly count etc and will come with night textures. Placement on the default terrain is a joke though as Microsoft in their wisdom appear to have made the land higher than it should be. It's odd I only intended to build the hangar for screenshot purposes then kinda got carried away with the modelling so thought why not pack it with the upload.
In real terms a full reproduction of Coventry in the 1950's should be built but that isn't my area. The placement was based upon old photos and works reasonably well with the UK2000 part 5 scenery though obviously there are hangars and the runway that shouldn't be there as it had a grass runway in those early days. I don't know how to remove these various buildings and runway so as I said before a complete revamp may be necessary.
Sorry about the not so smooth screenshots I left the LOD rather low when I took these and I'm still running an old 512mb AGP card
I realise there may be limited interest in this but what the hell it was fun to make.

Hi Tekman
Whe you come to release....may I suggest Classic British Files who I am sure will put a front page write up on it as well as host the files.

Well gentlemen, I must say I'm rather pleasantly taken a back by the interest shown without even releasing it. Leif I do believe you kindly uploaded my Marathons to Classic British Files website previously.
I may be able to email the pack across to one of you chaps but obviously this depends on your pop server limit.
When it's packed and ready to ship ill let you know
regards
Peter
