Hi Garry,

Its called Hartshead Pike which overlooks most of Manchester. Built around 1863 I think.

From Hartshead Pike on the top of Hartshead Hill the four counties of Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire can be seen.

Good to see you're riding a hard tail and not one of these gay full sus bikes.

Your seat looks a bit high though, how you supposed to hit those doubles properly with a seat that high

My days of table topping are well and truly over.

The seat is specifically raised that high to suit my riding style, which is cross country. The frame is 17.5 inches and I'm 6ft.

Its quite decieiving as well, the seat tube goes up past the down tube so it looks even longer but it isnt. If that makes any sense.

See below;

Gosh, what a fine looking machine...Way in advance of anything I know about bikes...Disc Brakes!!...and seems like an incredible number of gears.

I would be interested to see a list of its specs and features with weight and approx cost etc. I expect I could look all that up on the web but a good URL to do that would also be appreciated

Hi Peter,

the bike was custom built from new. I basically spec'd it from the frame upwards. Here is a basic specification for your information.

Frame - Specialized S-Works Ultra light aluminium (M5-XX Grade)

Forks - Rockshox Reba, aluminium legs with magnesium steerer

Handlebars - RaceFace Carbon and Aluminium Stem

Groupset - Shimano XT/XTR with RaceFace Crankset (27 Speed)

Brakes - Shimano Deore XT discs front & rear

Saddle - SDG Carbon/titanium

Wheels - MAVIC Crossride superlight

Tyres - Panaracer Trailblasters 26x1.8

Weight approx 22 Ibs

Cost - £2800 :crying:

Have you any idea how much you could have bought from Alphasim for all that ???

Great pictures by the way. Residing in the flat-lands as I do, its always nice to see a bit of real scenery.

Cheers Robin,

I know that sounds a lot but believe me thats nothing compared to some bikes that frequent the trails. Many of the full suspension bikes, (which I loathe!) come in at around £3000 and above.

Bonkers? - Yes, but I dread to think what the average person spends a year on fags.
