Dumb Viscount question...

Post by Macs »

Quick one, I guess will be to Fraser

The recommneded climb JPT should be 520’C + OAT/2.
Now if the OAT is negative in Deg C, should I just subtract the OAT/2 from the 520 Deg C?
Regardles of whether you go into the negative, this means that the lower the OAT the lower the recommneded JPT. The lower the recommended JPT, the the lower the value for the fuel trimmers, and the lower the power output. Am I looking at this right? It seems so in practice. Thanks and sorry to be a pest :)
regards,
Macs :)

Hi Macs,

I had wondered what the effect of negatives would be, the formula is as per the BEA and BAF ops manual. Personally, I just trim to 520'C in the climb and 510'C in the cruise. Dart 6 engines seem to have more variable tolerances than later marques.

cheers
